Bananas: use ripe bananas, but make sure they aren’t overly ripe or they will be too soft to hold onto the stick.
Chocolate: you can use semi-sweet or dark.
Coconut oil: for the melted chocolate to have a thinner consistency, to properly coat the bananas.
Peanut butter: you’ll need a natural creamy peanut butter that is thin enough to drizzle over top.
Popsicle or craft sticks: these are used to place the bananas on and use as a popsicle stick.

How to Make Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas

  • First, melted the chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave.
  • Insert the popsicle stick through the bottom center of the banana, and press until halfway through.
  • Then place the banana over the melted chocolate and use a spoon to drizzle the chocolate overtop until coated.
  • Arrange a sheet pan with parchment paper and arrange banana pops on it. Drizzle with peanut butter over top.
  • Freeze for 1 hour or until completely frozen, then enjoy right away!

Topping Ideas

You can add a variety of different toppings to change the flavor of these chocolate-covered bananas! Here are some extra ideas that are delicious and fun.

Chocolate chips
Shredded coconut
Sprinkles
Chopped nuts

Melted white chocolate
Almond butter

Extra Tips for Success

Bananas should be ripe – but firm: you want the banana pops to taste sweet, so make sure they are ripe. But if they’re too ripe – too many brown spots – they may be too soft to stay properly on the stick.

Use natural peanut butter or add coconut oil: in order to drizzle the peanut butter, you’ll need natural nut butter. If your peanut butter is thicker, you can warm it in the microwave with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Stir together completely and drizzle.

How long do they keep? These bananas should keep for about 2-3 weeks. Place in a freezer-friendly ziplock bag and keep bananas stored in the freezer.
