Learn how to make creamy sorbet in minutes!

Sorbet is an “icy” Italian dessert that is usually dairy-free and fruit-forward. But today, instead of using an ice cream maker and waiting hours for the finished product, we’re using frozen fruit and a blender to make things really simple and fast.

This specific recipe is full of tangy sweet mangos, creamy bananas, and lime juice for a touch of acidity! You’ll find each bite is perfectly sweet and so refreshing.

Ingredients – What You Need

You’ll need 4 simple ingredients to make this recipe. See below for the full list and ingredient tips!

Mango: Use store-bought frozen mango pieces or freeze your own!
Bananas: Bananas are used to make this sorbet a little creamier. Freeze your own banana pieces overnight or use store-bought!
Lime: for some acidity and flavor! Lime goes perfectly with the mango flavor.
Maple syrup: for a touch of sweetness!

How to Make Mango Lime Sorbet (without an ice cream maker)

First, add the frozen bananas, mango, lime juice, and maple syrup to a food processor or high-powered blender.

Pulse and puree. Ingredients will first break down into small chunks. Shut off the machine and remove the lid to stir ingredients – turn back on and continue to blend. It may seem like the mixture needs liquid but it will continue to smooth out as it blends.

When the sorbet is done, the consistency should be super creamy and smooth. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips for Success

Blender vs food processor – both will give you great results. A blender (typically a vitamix) will give you fast results – about 2-3 minutes. A food processor works just as good but takes a bit longer – about 4-5 minutes.

Freeze your own fruit – you can use store-bought frozen fruit or freeze your own for an even sweeter taste! I recommend using ripe bananas (lots of brown dots) and a very ripe mango. The fruit will need to be frozen overnight to ensure it’s solid enough.

Remember: No liquid is needed – it may look like you’ll need liquid to help bind the ingredients while they’re in the blender, but fear not. Over time the frozen fruit will break down and turn into a creamy dreamy consistency!

Topping ideas – you can add fresh mango or banana pieces to the top of your sorbet! Chocolate chips and chopped nuts are also delicious.

Freeze for later – if you don’t serve this right away, immediately transfer sorbet to a glass airtight container and freeze for several hours before enjoying.
